Can we say CHASE???

Well I had the pleasure of heading out for the inaugaral Aliso Viejo Grand Prix, as my come back to the season. It was a beutiful Saturday, but unfortunately the course was not quite suited to a sprinter. The was a solid 160 foot climb per lap... what does that add up to??? Well it turned out to be a solid 3800 feet of climbing in only 15 miles. My average heart rate was 183... 183, are you kidding me??? I held my VO2 max for over 40minutes. Probably the most painful race Ihave ever done... I mean it was crazy.

Unfortunately, about 15mins into the race there was a crash about mid-peloton by one of the juniors... which eventually spelled disaster for me. This fall happend right in front of me and it created a separation in the peloton. A gap that would never be closed again. Less than 12 riders went clear ad I never caught back on. I chase for 30mins and every time I tried to get people to work with me afer the climb, they were usually toast. YOU CANNOT CATCH A PELOTON SOLO... so how did I finish. I managed not to get pulled and stayed a respectable distance behing the lead group. I ended up in 14th place out of a field of 65 riders... not to bad.. needless to say I think the result sucked but I have recently come to terms with the fact that I usually get upset if I am not standing on the podium.

Here are the RESULTS and COURSE PROFILE

I am well aware how lame my outfit looks... thats all I have left after two crashes and one destroyed helmet
